A specifiable, modular wall panel system with an innovative adjustable reveal. Designed for easy installation, maximum reconfigurability, and premium economy of material.
Manufactured by ZahnerMetal feature walls aren't easy to specify.
When incorporating specialty metals into their projects, Architects are often forced into a consultative role with a fabricator, designing a custom solution for which they may not have the time or budget.
This passes another obligation onto the customer.
A consultative model also means that in order to ship product, a manufacturer is reliant on design direction and timely communication from the customer. This can create delays and drive up costs for both parties.
A flexible kit of parts removes this pressure.
By providing a system of pre-designed and engineered parts, Architects can still build out unique spaces, without having to take on an extra design lift.
We needed to create a panel system that a client didn't need to design–but could design with.
The challenge was in creating a product system that used the same pieces for every installation, and could seamlessly incorporate into a late-stage, or retrofit architectural project.
An adjustable reveal fills the gap.
While panel sizes needed to remain consistent, the space between them could change to help fit any given scope. By carefully considering the hardware, we designed a slot system which allows for nearly three inches of variable reveal between each panel horizontally.
A platform for add-on functionalities.
Using the back panel assembly that allows for a variable reveal also allows for other added functionalities too. Future collections could be built around pattern, acoustics, lighting and more.
Many prototypes were made to ensure ease of install, correct panel alignment, manufacturability, and to test various panel features.
Designing patterns for the panel system.
In addition to all of Zahner's specialty metal finishes, we collaborated with architecture giant, Gensler, to bring a series of nature-inspired patterns to the Moda platform.
See Moda Ecology webpageThe system includes four panel sizes, available in nine specialty metals, allowing for an unlimited number of panel arrangements.

Modular.
Rotate panels in 90-degree increments, combine multiple panel sizes, or mix and match materials and patterns for unique installations.
Adaptable.
Moda arrays can be installed with varying vertical reveal widths to better fit any wall. Reveals range from .25” up to 3” without revealing hardware components or wall fasteners.
Reconfigurable.
Moda panels can be easily uninstalled, rearranged, and reinstalled to freshen a space, helping reduce the carbon footprint in the event of future renovations.
Easy Install.
Once the Moda hardware is fastened to your substrate and brought into alignment, panels are easily hung using the hook-and-slot features.
